Rangerettes open district play

It promises to be one of the toughest volleyball districts in the state of Texas. District 4-4A is loaded with talented teams and good coaches. Any of the teams in the district could claim the district championship. Perryton opened play against the Borger Lady Bulldogs on Saturday in Borger.

PHS cross country runs in Lubbock

The Perryton cross country teams traveled to the Lubbock ISD XC Invitational on Saturday This annual meet is a good preview of the upcoming regional meet which occurs later in the year on the same course. Competition was tough, with Canyon High School dominating both the boys’ and girls’ races.

Soccer program is approved by school board

After studying the issue, holding public meetings, committee meetings and discussion on the issue during board meetings, the Perryton School Board officially approved soccer as a school sanctioned sport Tuesday evening.

Rangers to host Pampa on Friday

The Rangers will face the Pampa Harvesters this Friday night at Ranger Field. The Harvesters are 4-1 on the season, and tied with Canyon for the lead in District 3-4A, DI. Hereford is 3-2 and Dumas is 2-2 so far on the season.

Rangers win Canadian Invitational CC Meet

Both the Ranger and Rangerette cross country teams ran in the Canadian Invitational Meet on Saturday. It was a good outing for both teams. The Rangers defeated the field to win the team championship with 19 points. They posted an average team time of 18:29 in the win.

Rettes battle Lady Mustangs

The Rangerette volleyball team hosted the Wildorado Lady Mustangs on Saturday. The match was stretched beyond the usual limits as the two teams battled into extra points in the fifth set of the match. The two teams are evenly matched which created for an exciting match.

The Rangerette volleyball team got back in the win column in Guymon on Tuesday. Perryton started slowly in the first game but took the match in four sets by the scores of 18-25, 26-24, 25-21 and 25-19. The win improves the Rangerettes’ season record to 11-14. The defense played well in the win.

Wildcats take 51-28 win over Rangers

The formidable Canadian Wildcats came to Ranger Field Friday night, and took home a 51-28 victory. The Rangers played well, but despite only trailing 28-14 at the half, couldn’t overcome the powerful Canadian offense in the second half.

The Rangerette volleyball team travelled to Dalhart on Saturday. The Lady Wolves defeated the Rettes in the first match of the season 3-0 in Perryton. The Rettes hoped to return the favor on Saturday in the Wolves’ den.

Perryton cross country hosts meet

Last Saturday was the date of the annual Wolf Creek Classic Cross Country Meet at Lake Fryer. The scenic course is home to the much-dreaded Big Bubba hill which separates the contenders from the pretenders.
