Oil Patch Golf Tournament is set for this weekend

Area golfers are looking forward to this weekend’s 52nd annual Oil Patch Golf Tournament.The tournament, hosted by the Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Friday, July 10 through Sunday, July 12, at the Perryton Golf Course to honor the oil and gas industry in the Perryton area.

Grimes County residents question proposed chip facility

Elon Musk’s bid to build what he calls the world’s largest computer chip manufacturing facility in Grimes County, southeast of College Station, is drawing opposition from some residents, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Musk is seeking tax breaks to build the facility, dubbed Terafab.

Kirklin named Young Careerist

Marci Kirklin has been named the Young Careerist of the Month for June by the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club. She and her husband, Tyler, have three children: Corie, 9, and Cal and Hayes, 6.She is a first grade teacher at Wright Elementary.

Local man is arrested for capital murder

A Perryton man has been arrested for capital murder.According to Perryton Police Chief Rafael Gonzalez, his office called the Texas Rangers on April 25 to assist with a murder investigation.On Thursday, Terrell Leon, 26, was arrested in Texas County, Oklahoma.
