Data centers could strain water supply

A new report says the boom in data centers across Texas could consume nearly 3% of the state’s water by 2030, the Houston Chronicle reported.The Houston Advanced Research Center found the data centers, used to power artificial intelligence, used 25 billion gallons of water in 2025.

Early voting to start on Monday

Early voting starts next week for the Perryton City Council general election, set for May 2.There are three candidates in the race, seeking two positions up for election on the council.They are incumbents Greg Good and J Aston, and are joined in the race by newcomer Lisa Kerl.

Perryton FCCLA students compete at state event

Fourteen students from Perryton High School’s chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competed in the state competition this year.The students competed at the state meet in Dallas on April 8-11.The PHS chapter was awarded the Gold Chapter Award for the second year.

Commissioners appoint Kerl as new county JP

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.The commissioners announced Ochiltree County deputy Eric Kerl has been appointed to the position of Justice of the Peace.The previous Justice of the Peace, Bucky Goldsberry, died in March.
