County retains legal reps for energy abatements

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved retaining the Underwood Law Firm to represent the county regarding tax abatement applications and agreements with NextEra Energy.

Coffee Memorial Blood Center’s Bloodmobile paid a visit to Perryton and Ochiltree General Hospital last week, as the center works to restock its supply of blood, which has suffered shortages for weeks.

Parent, student meeting set for Ranger Band Perryton High School’s Ranger Band will hold a meeting for parents and students on Friday, July 24, at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The meeting is mandatory for parents and students, including color guard.
THE ULTIMATE CONTEST FOR HUNGRY KIDS— The Wolf Creek Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution organized this year’s Fourth of July celebration at Leatherman Park. The event brought lots of activities, including a fun run, concerts, dance exhibitions, a farmers market, a car show, giant inflatable balloons and kites, food trucks, and much more, including hot dog and pie eating contests. Pictured are a group of kids trying to pace themselves as they wolf down stacks of hot dogs.

And whenever they needed some fuel to keep themselves going, there were plenty of food trucks on hand to serve up lunch, snacks, or a cold drink. City sales tax payment is up

The City of Perryton had some good news this month. Its sales tax payment for July of $256,346 was almost 4% higher than last July.For the year so far, the city has received $1.76 million, slightly less, 1.
