Leadership Perryton XXIV graduates 18

Graduation of the 24th class of Leadership Perryton was held recently at the First Methodist Church. Eighteen members completed the nine-month leadership development course and received a special award at their graduation lunch.
In addition to the announcements of multiple local scholarships, the annual awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 12, included the announcement of this year’s Best All Around in the Class of 2026. They are, from left, Mallee Vela and Samuel DeSantiago.

Commissioners court discuss fire protection

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the county commissioners held a brief budget workshop to discuss county fire protection.

PHS scholars recognized at Academic Awards

Perryton High School students were honored and recognized Monday evening for their academic achievements during the year at the Academic Awards Banquet held in the Rangerette Gym.Samuel DeSantiago was announced as the valedictorian of the Class of 2026, with Evelyn Osuna Felix as the salutatorian.

Parkinson’s Disease support group to meet The Perryton Area Parkinson’s Disease Support Group will meet Friday, May 8, at noon at New Hope Fellowship Church, 2821 S. Ash. A lunch will be provided. Braden Karber will present a program on a new method of delivering Parkinson’s meds consistently.
Perryton Junior High School’s sixth grade choir competed at the Dumas Music Festival on April 18. They performed “Ave Maria,” arranged by Patrick Liebergen, and “Oye” by Jim Papoulis, as well as a sight reading for a piece they had never seen before. The judges awarded the choir a perfect score, or sweepstakes prize. The Junior High Choir will perform their spring concert on Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
