Slightly less active hurricane season predicted

Hurricane season is a little less than two months away, and weather media outlet AccuWeather is predicting a slightly less active season this year than in 2025, the Houston Chronicle reported. However, Texas and the Gulf Coast are still at risk of being hit.

Incumbents win council election

The incumbents were re-elected in the Perryton City Council election on Saturday, May 2.For the city council, J Aston was the top vote getter with a total of 172. That included 92 in early voting, 27 absentee votes and 53 on election day.Greg Good received 160 total votes.

City’s sales tax payment takes a hit this month

The City of Perryton saw its sales tax allocation for May drop from last May.The city received $275,408 for the month, down 8.6% from May 2025. For the year so far, its $1.247 million in payments are down a little over 2%.Amarillo received a payment of $11.2 million, up 13% from last May.
