Eight proposed amendments on November ballot The order has been drawn for eight proposed amendments to the much-amended Texas Constitution that will appear on the Nov. 2 ballot. The proposed amendments were approved by at least two thirds of both houses of the state Legislature.

Government legislative titles often sound fantastic; certainly, there is a branding guru in charge of naming potential legislation something that appeals to the masses. But the titles don't always fairly describe the legislation they are attached to.

Did you hear the NFL is planning to play the "Black national anthem" before each football game? This is the most bizarre, insulting, idiotic, ignorant, offensive and most importantly -- racist -- decision in the history of sports. First of all, I didn't even know there was a "Black national anthem.

Workforce commission announces job surge The Texas Workforce Commission released June employment figures that showed Texas employers added nearly 56,000 jobs in June, while the unemployment rate dropped to 6.5%. “The Texas economy is booming,” Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement.

Many years ago, when silver was shooting up in value and there were still silver coins in circulation, I started checking my coins every evening when I emptied my pockets. Occasionally, I will still find an unusual coin, including a wheat leaf penny, a silver dime or an old quarter.
