Four Rangers make All District team

Four Perryton Rangers have been named to this year’s All District 4-4A Basketball team. Making the All District first team were sophomore Julian Cervantes and junior Tad Pshigoda. Earning honorable mention honors were Cuyler Feger and Daxton Rigdon. For the season, Cervantes averaged 14.

Rangerette golfers finish their season

Two Rangerette golfers competed in the second round of district play on Monday in Dumas. The tournament was held on the Pheasant Trails Course. Only Canyon, Dumas and Hereford had complete teams and battled for the district title.

Dumas Demonettes stun the Rangerettes

The Rangerette softball team travelled to Dumas on Monday. The Demonettes are loaded with talent, as are all the teams in the district. Dumas once again has a power hitting lineup and strong pitching. Perryton shocked Dumas by jumping out toa three run lead in their half of the first inning.

The Rangerette softball team was busy over spring break with two non-district games as they prepare for the upcoming district season. The Rettes struggled to get hits offensively and with fielding errors defensively in each game last week.

Track teams compete in Panhandle meet

The PHS track teams were busy over the spring break week competing in the Panhandle Spring Break Worker’s Track Meet. Competition was tough, with 16 boys and 14 girls teams participating. Childress won the boys’ side with 136 team points. Bushland was a distant second with 67 points.

The Rangerette powerlifting team competed in the state powerlifting meet in Corpus Christi. The Rettes finished a close second for the championship, and Alejandra Salas is a state champ in her division. In all, the team had seven medalists in the competition.

PHS tennis competes in Amarillo tourney

The Perryton High School tennis teams took part in the Longhorn Invitational Tournament last week. The event was hosted by Caprock High School and offered the Perryton teams hefty competition and numerous matches. All classifications of schools were represented.

Track off and running

The Perryton High School track teams finally kicked off the season at the Randy Matson Track on the campus of Pampa High School over the weekend. The Rangers, led by Coach Jeff Schollenbarger, finished third as a team with 123 points. Dumas won the meet with 206 points.
