Betty June Flowers Payne, 96, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 at her home in Stillwater, OK.
Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery.
Betty was born June 30, 1927 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Floyd Flowers and Edna Patterson Flowers. She spent her entire life in the Stillwater area, and still lived on the farm at the time of her death.
Betty married Preston M. Payne in Newton, Kansas on Jan. 7, 1946 and they had two children, Janice and Larry. Preston and Betty owned and operated a dairy west of Stillwater, and when Preston passed away in 1985, Betty and Larry continued it until Larry’s death in 2003. After Larry’s death, the dairy was liquidated and Betty finally retired at age 76.
Betty was one of the hardest working women you will ever know. She loved to travel with her daughter, reading, and watching Perry Mason on TV.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Payne; her brothers, Floyd and Billy Flowers; and husband, Preston Payne.
Betty is survived by her daughter Janice McLain and husband Randy of Perryton; her grandson, Brian Payne and wife Sarah of Lakewood, New York; her granddaughter, Amanda Davidson and husband of Tuttle, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Betty’s caregivers DeAnna, Jamie, Michelle, Thea, and Janna. Memorial contributions may be made to Karmen Legacy Hospice in Stillwater.
