Rodriguez, Hernandez are named Rotary Students of Month

The Perryton Rotary Club recognized Caden Rodriguez and Lorena Hernandez as the February Rotary Students of the Month.Caden is the son of Jordan and Guadalupe Rodriguez. He has one sibling, Brynlee.He participates in football, basketball, baseball, and National Honor Society.

Annual Chamber banquet slated this Thursday

The Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet and silent auction on Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Ochiltree County Expo Center.The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for patrons to bid on numerous silent auction items. Dinner will be at 6 p.m.
Perryton City Hall has now reopened this week at their old location at 110 S. Ash. The Ash location has been closed since the June 2023 tornado, while the city operated out of a temporary City Hall at 417 S. Amherst. It will take at least a month for the city to fully transition all departments back into the Ash location of City Hall. Perryton City Hall reopens at S. Ash location

Perryton City Hall reopened this past Tuesday at their old location at 110 S. Ash.The Ash location has been closed since the tornado that struck the city in mid-June 2023.

State records most tornadoes during 2024

Preliminary data from the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center indicates the United States experienced a record 1,855 tornadoes in 2024, breaking a 20-year-old record. Texas led the nation with 169 tornadoes last year, more than doubling the 2023 total of 78.
