Mayor signs proclamation to honor fallen firefighters

Perryton Mayor Kerry Symons signed a proclamation last week commemorating National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, International Firefighters Day, and Light the Night Red Week.National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend is May 3-4, and International Firefighters Day is Sunday, May 4.

Frank Phillips College, Allen Campus hosted a pulled pork dinner fundraiser Tuesday evening for the Perryton Pathways scholarship program. Hungry diners had dine in, take out, and delivery options available, as well as a silent auction. Over $4,500 was raised for the Pathways program.

Early voting underway

Early voting began Tuesday for the May 3 general election, with already several people casting ballots.As of early afternoon on Wednesday, 62 people had voted early in the election.There is only election in May, to decide positions on the Perryton School Board.
4-H MEMBERS SEW PILLOWCASES FOR CAPSTONE RESIDENTS— Ochiltree County 4-H members in the fashion/beginner sewing class learned basic sewing skills by hand and on the sewing machine. They constructed 19 pillowcases for residents at Capstone Healthcare of Perryton as a final project. Amie Marrufo has been chosen as the Young Careerist of the Month by the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club.She and her husband, Omar, have five children: Gavin, Aubree, Oliver, Omar and Mila.She works at Ochiltree General Hospital and Perryton Christian Academy.

Jennie Junes have program on museum

The Jennie June Club met April 9 at the Museum of the Plains. Hostesses were Janelle Cochran, Arlene Boxwell and Dorothy Ezzell.Sheryl Dunlavy gave the program, a Power Point presentation on projects and activities at the museum.
