Blasingame gives program to Jennie June Club

The Jennie June Club met March 10 at Perry Memorial Library. Because of COVID-19 concerns, the club did not meet in December, January or February. The program was given by Megan Blasingame, Ochiltree General Hospital certified registered nurse anesthesiologist.

Harrison, Vyoral named Students of the Month

The Perryton Rotary Club has selected Perryton High School seniors Kaydee Harrison and Vance Vyoral as its Students of the Month for March. Harrison is the daughter of Kevin and Dyan Harrison, she has two siblings, Kelin and Kelly Harrison.

Edgar Allan Poe had a phobia of being buried alive, which is probably why several of his stories, including “The Fall of the House of Usher,” “The Cask of Amontillado,” “The Premature Burial,” “The Black Cat,” and “Berenice,” involve someone being buried before they’re entirely dead.

The Signing

Only two people signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, John Hancock and Charles Thomson. Most of the rest signed on Aug. 2, but the last signature was not added until five years later.

Bad omen

A dinner party consisting of 13 people in England during the Middle Ages was considered the worst of omens. It foretold the impending death of one in the group. This was associated with the Last Supper, and also with a witches coven, as both had 13 members.
