IRS changing e-file system platform

The Internal Revenue Service reminds information return filers who currently use the Filing Information Returns Electronically (FIRE) system to prepare now for the system’s retirement and transition to the Information Returns Intake System (IRIS) before the 2027 filing season.

The annual Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade was held Saturday morning on Main Street, where thousands of county residents turned out to enjoy the show.The Perryton Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the best entries in the parade.

The Perryton ISD boardmet for a regular monthly meeting on Monday, Aug. 24.A public hearing for comments on the budget and proposed tax rate opened at 6:02 p.m and closed at 6:03 p.m. There were no public comments.Next, a public notice of intent to apply for federal grant funds was declared.
The annual block party, sponsored by the Perryton Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce, brought local residents out last Thursday evening to enjoy snacks and activities at the county courthouse and along downtown Main Street. Ochiltree County Sheriff Terry Bouchard and his staff from the Sheriff’s Office sponsored a booth at the courthouse lawn to distribute kids’ DNA kits, along with fun activity booklets.

Dove season opens statewide Sept. 1 for the first time in history

For a third year in a row, Texas received significant rain in the spring across most of the state, bolstering the previous year’s healthy dove populations. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologist’s estimate both mourning and white-winged doves are near record highs again.
