Rifle and Pistol Club sets annual meeting The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold itsannual meeting on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. at the indoor range south of the Ochiltree County Expo Center.

COVID cases up slightly in county

Active cases of COVID-19 in Ochiltree County have risen slightly this week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 rose to 37, up from 35 last Thursday afternoon.

Damage investigated

A couple of cases of criminal mischief were investigated by police during the week. The front living room window of a residence at 722 SW 17th was broken out by an object thrown through the window. Damage was estimated at $250. A pickup parked at 1201 S.

The winter solstice marks the first day of winter. For people residing in the Northern Hemisphere, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, heralded the official arrival of winter (the Southern Hemisphere’s winter solstice is on Sunday, June 20).

Area businesses and offices set holiday hours

Christmas is only days away, and many businesses, organizations, and governmental offices are planning their days off for the holiday season. Frank Phillips College Allen Campus is closed for their holiday break and will remain closed until January 10, 2022.

The candidates for Ochiltree County’s County Clerk election met on Tuesday afternoon at the Ochiltree County Courthouse to draw for ballot position for the election. Sandra Limas will be in first position on the ballot, with Stacey Brown second.

United Way leaps to 96%

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2022 fund drive took a big leap toward its $92,000 goal, thanks to several donations in the non-profit division. The drive now stands at 96% of the goal, with $88,288 in donations so far. The non-profit division, which has a $10,000 goal, is now just $370 short of that.
