Burglaries and criminal mischief reports topped police activity for the week. Aburglary was reported at 14 SW Second. A Microsoft Surface Pro laptop, valued at $1,770 was taken. A vehicle burglary was reported at 2305 S. Georgia. A debit card, loose change and keys were stolen.

Council sets tax rate, discusses higher gas prices

The Perryton City Council met Tuesday at 11 a.m. for a public hearing about the proposed tax rate, and discussed a natural gas surcharge during their meeting. The council heard and voted to approve the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 which was just under $16 million.
