COVID-19 cases in county dip slightly

COVID-19 results from Ochiltree General Hospital fell slightly from last week. According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, Ochiltree General Hospital completed 74 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with 17 positive cases, down from 21 last week.

County receives spotty rainfall

Ochiltree County received light and widely-scattered rainfall last weekend and this week. Early Friday evening, dark clouds, thunder, and lightning threatened the county, with some areas receiving much more rain than others.

Commissioners approve lease of airport hangar lot

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday, July 11, in the Ochiltree County Courthouse. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved the lease of a hangar lot at the Ochiltree County Airport to 4J Aviation.

Texas permits to drill up in June

The Railroad Commission of Texas issued a total of 1,146 original drilling permits in June 2022 compared to 739 in June 2021. The June 2022 total includes 1,013 permits to drill new oil or gas wells, 11 to re-enter plugged wellbores and five for re-completions of existing wellbores.
