Bozeman sentenced to 30 years for murder

On Aug. 27, Roque George Bozeman, 17, pleaded guilty to a charge of murder.The case involved the death of Joni Lynn Morgan on Oct. 29, 2024.He was sentenced to 30 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He is currently in the Ochiltree County Jail.

Wheat insect and disease school set

Texas Panhandle wheat producers can sharpen their scouting skills at the Wheat Insect and Disease Scouting School from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 16, at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Randall County, 200 N. Brown Road in Canyon.

CorrectionIn the Thursday, Sept. 3 issue of the Perryton Herald a legal notice was published for the Ochiltree Hospital District stating that a budget hearing for the 2026-27 budget was slated for September 17, which was incorrect. The hospital budget was adopted by the board at a previous meeting.
The Pride of Perryton Ranger Band held a March-a-Thon Aug. 29. as they took a three-mile march from the high school, to Williams Intermediate, over to Stark Park, across to Perryton Junior High School, and then back to PHS. The event helps raise funds for the band’s spring trip, helps offset the costs of this year’s marching show, and gets band members a little more marching practice.
