Parkinson’s support group to meet The Perryton Area Parkinson’s Disease Support Group will meet at noon on Friday, Sept. 9 at New Hope Fellowship, 2821 S Ash in Perryton. Lunch will be provided. The program will be given by Jo Bidwell from Southwest Parkinson’s Society in Lubbock.

House vandalized

It was a fairly quiet week for criminal activity. A residence at 902 S. Harvard had the house and vehicles egged, and the culprits also broke off a sprinkler head. Damage was estimated at $160. In county jail activity: Jaycee Marroquin, 45, was arrested on a felony parole warrant.

COVID cases fall again in county

After an increase in cases last week, Ochiltree General Hospital’s COVID-19 numbers fell sharply this week. According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, Ochiltree General Hospital completed 58 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with 14 positive cases, down from 28 cases last week.

County holds public hearing, approves budget

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Tuesday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. The main item on the commissioners’agenda was a public hearing on the 2022-23 budget. However, there were no members of the public present to speak on the budget.

Perryton Senior Citizen Center hosted Bingo on Wednesday afternoon after their usual noontime meal for players from the Senior Center as well as from Senior Village. Pam Sanford, administrator of Senior Village, served as the bingo caller for the afternoon.

Dumas Demons come to town Friday

The Dumas Demons will come to town this Friday night to take on Perryton at Ranger Field. Game time is 7 p.m. Dumas is 1-1 on the season. The Demons handled Lubbock Estacado last Friday, 34-7, but lost their opener to Lubbock Cooper, 27-8. Dumas is in a tough District 3-4A, DI.

Perryton Elks Lodge #2368 made a $3,000 donation to Snack Pak 4 Kids to help with food for the program. The donation was made possible through a grant available through the Elks’ Grand Lodge in Chicago.
