Our annual Turkey Dinner was once again a huge success. Nancy, Norma and Zully have got this thing down to a science. But what really makes it smooth sailing is our wonderful volunteers, and boy did they ever show up this year.
UNITED WAY DONATION— The Ochiltree United Way received $4,776, part of the proceeds from the 2022 Jacky Pierce Charity Class Golf Tournament, held in Lubbock. Sponsored by United Supermarkets, the proceeds provided $500,000 in funding for 27 nonprofit charities in Texas and New Mexico. The check was presented to the United Way board at its last meeting. Keep your stomach full of turkey and free from foodborne illness this Thanksgiving holiday. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reminds all that it’s important to remember the steps to food safety during America’s biggest meal.

PPW begins annual Project Christmas Card drive

The Panhandle Professional Women has begun its annual Project Christmas Card scholarship drive. Donation boxes have been placed at several locations around town, complete with envelopes, for local residents to contribute to the fund.

Annual performance of “Messiah” set for Sunday

The 67th performance of George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” will be presented by the Perryton Musical Arts Enrichment Foundation on Sunday, Nov. 27, in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church. The annual Christmas tradition will begin at 6 p.m.

Hospital board approves purchases

The Ochiltree County Hospital District’s Board of Directors met for the regular monthly meeting on Monday evening at the conference center in Ochiltree General Hospital. Among other items on the agenda, the board members approved the purchase of two new bariatric beds for $29,000.
