United Way drive reaches 77% of goal

The Ochiltree United Way moved forward to its $94,300 goal this week, and has so far raised $73,129. That is 77% of the goal. Another new 100% Company, FirstBank Southwest, was also added.

The City of Perryton set up their “Giving Tree” again to help local citizens who have difficulty paying their winter heating bills. The City’s Giving Tree has become a local tradition for this time of year.

DAR making early plans for Wreaths Across America on Dec. 17

Tthe Wolf Creek Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution are ready for this year’s annual Wreaths Across America ceremony. For the eighth year, Ochiltree County will participate in the nationwide Wreaths Across America ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m.
PARADE OF LIGHTS The Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce hosted a Christmas Parade of Lights downtown on Dec. 3. The parade ran down Main Street from Ninth to Brillhart, as vehicles and floats decked out in festive Christmas lights entertained the large crowd on hand and worked to fire up everyone’s holiday spirit. Santa Claus has once again chosen the Herald as the official area drop-off point for letters to him. Children are welcome to bring their letters to the Herald office, Fourth and Amherst and place them in our special Santa mail box.

Motorcycle run to benefit Toys for Tots A motorcycle run will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 1:30 p.m. in the United Supermarket parking lot to benefit Toys for Tots. The entry fee is one new toy. The motorcycle run will end at the Expo Center with door prizes, a raffle, and refreshments.
