A threat of violence at Perryton High School on social media was reported to police Tuesday evening.

A concerned parent called police after seeing a Snapchat conversation about a school shooting threat at the high school on Wednesday.

Perryton ISD officials said in a statement, “Perryton ISD staff and local law enforcement were made aware, from multiple sources, about a possible school threat on social media last night. The Perryton Police Department investigated those involved soon after the post appeared. Law enforcement and school officials believe that the situation is resolved and there is no threat to the safety of our students.Out of an abundance of caution, Perryton High School has been placed in Secure/Lockout status and will remain that was until the end of this week.

“Secure/lockout is not lockdown. School continues as normal except that all exterior doors are locked and access is limited. Further information about our emergency classifications, The Standard Response Protocol, is posted on the Perryton ISD website. www. perrytonisd.org,” the statement continued.
