Pathways enrollment underway

The deadline to enroll in the Pathways scholarship program for 2020-21 is Wednesday, Sept. 30. Pathways is open to Perryton High School freshmen and eligible sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Pathways is a branch of the Ranger Academic Enrichment Foundation that guarantees payment for tuition, fees, and books at Frank Phillips College Allen Campus for all qualifying students. Patriot meeting set

A “Patriots Call to Duty” meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. The presentation will include the Republican and Democratic platforms, and what people can do to save the “Republic.” Everyone is invited to attend.

Snack Pak 4 Kids set September 14

Snack Pak 4 Kids will meet Monday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Williams Cafeteria to pack snack bags. Masks will be required, and hand sanitizer will be provided. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 340, Perryton, TX 79070.

PARSPA to meet online

The Perryton Area Retired School Personnel Association (PARSPA) will have their September meeting online, September 16 at noon, with County Clerk Cassi Laxton as speaker. She will describe the voting process and take questions. Members will receive instructions on using Zoom this week.

Senior Center sets fund-raiser

The Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Association will have its annual Fall Fund-raiser on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center. Cajun cuisine will be served. There will also be live entertainment and door prizes. Tickets must be purchased in advance from any board member or at the center. Tickets for adults are $20; children ages 5-10 are $8.

Youth basketball sign up underway

The Perryton Activity Center is currently signing up your for basketball. Divisions are coed pre-K-K, and separate boys and girls leagues for grades 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6. Fee is $30 for PAC members and $60 for nonmembers. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 25. Any sign ups after that date are subject to a $20 late fee. Games will begin on Nov. 7. Farmers Market to continue

The Ochiltree County Farmers Market will continue for at least the first two Saturdays in September. The market is held at the Perryton National Bank parking lot from 8 a.m-1 p.m. on Saturdays. Vendors of fruits and vegetables, as well as handmade and homemade items are welcome. The fee for a vendor table is $25 per season. American Legion sets September meeting

American Legion Post 254 will meet on Monday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center. No meal will be served at the meeting. All are welcome to attend.

PHS 2021 yearbooks on sale now

Perryton High School 2021 yearbooks are on sale now. They can be ordered on line at http://jostensyearbooks.com. They can be purchased with a credit or debit card at a special price. For more information, or a paper form, leave a message for yearbook sponsor Shawn Tevis at PHS, 435-3633.

Library announces adjusted hours

Perry Memorial Library has announced new hours. The library will be open from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, and from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Patrons who are at high risk can call ahead to make appointments to come in at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. Patrons are required to wear masks when they come into the building.

Crime Stoppers offers shredding service

Perryton-Ochiltree County Crime Stoppers is offering a free document shredding service. A blue bin has been placed in the lobby of the Perryton Police Department for the public to place their documents to be destroyed. A shredding service will pick up the container and dispose of the contents.
