Steel Challenge match set
The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold its monthly Steel Challenge match on Saturday, June 13, at 1 p.m. at the Chuck Waller Range, located on County Road U across from Wolf Creek Park. There will be three Steel Challenge courses: Pendulum, Roundabout, and 5 to Go. Competitors can fire 22 LR rifles and pistols, pistol caliber carbines (9mm, .40, and .45), and center fire pistols. Fee is $5 per gun — shoot as many as you wish. Competitors will need approximately 100 rounds per gun. Eye and ear protection is required. For more information, contact Sonny Halpain at 435-0076.
Rifle Club sets monthly meeting
The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. at the indoor range, south of the Expo Building. Renewals and new member signups will be available at the meeting. Upcoming events and projects will be discussed. All are welcome to attend. Legion selling tickets for fishing trip
The Harry P. Stumpf American Legion Post 254 is holding a drawing for a two-day guided fishing trip for three people and a two-night stay (up to six people) with Advantage Guide Service of Aberta Creek, Lake Texoma. Tickets are $10 each or six for $50. Winner has a year to book the trip package. The drawing will be held June 8. Most facilities open at Wolf Creek Park
Wolf Creek Park are open, with only the shower facilities remaining closed. The Lobo restaurant will be open to limited capacity of approximately 20 patrons at a time. Reservations are required at this time, as seating at the restaurant will be very limited.
PARSPA scholarship available
PARSPA (Perryton Area Retired School Personnel Association) has a scholarship available for any junior or senior in college majoring in education and planning to become a teacher. Applications for this scholarship are available now; the deadline for the scholarship applications is June 30. Highway 15 work starts
The Texas Department of Transportation began the final overlay project on State Highway 15 on April 29, from Spearman to the Ochiltree County line. Motorists should be prepared to stop. Flaggers will be in place.
Clothing House not accepting donations
Due to the Church of Christ Clothing House at 822 Drake being temporarily closed during the coronavirus outbreaks, they are no longer accepting donations.
Crisis center unable to accept donations
The Panhandle Crisis Center is not accepting donations at this time due to the closure of the resale shop. The PCC plans to reopen in the future once the Governor lifts the closure of non-essential businesses.
