Ochiltree County voters turned out in droves to cast ballots in the Nov. 3 election.
Some 3,163 votes were cast, for an almost 61% voter turnout in the county.
There were two local races on the ballot.
In the Ochiltree County Justice of the Peace race, Bucky Goldsberry handily won election to the office, with 1,426 votes. Keith Dutcher was next with 914 votes, and Darlena Hardy received 631 votes.
There were five candidates vying for two positions on the Perryton School Board. Elected were Ramon Vela with 1,626 votes, and Pete De Santiago with 1,153.
Vote totals for the other candidates were Lane Haley, 557; Shane Slover, 399; and Perla Gonzalez, 287.
Ronny Jackson was also the overwhelming choice of local and district voters for the U.S. Representative, District 13 office. He received 2,792 locally, and around 214,600 votes in the district. Democrat Gus Trujillo garnered 278 local votes and around 48,700 district wide.
U.S. Senator John Cornyn was also re-elected to office, beating Democrat MJ Hegar. Locally, Cornyn received 2,782 votes to Hegar’s 278. The Libertarian candidate had 36 local votes.
While the presidential election was still undetermined at press time, Donald Trump and Mike Pence were the overwhelming choice of Ochiltree County voters. He received 2,811 votes, 89%, compared to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris with 302 votes, or 9.5%. The Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgensen and running mate Jeremy “Spike” had 37 local votes.
