After over a month of reduced cases, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County has gone back up over 20.
The county’s active cases have risen from 16 on Tuesday afternoon to 21 as of Thursday afternoon, while the total cases have gone from 127 on Tuesday to 133 on Thursday.
According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, there have been 107 recoveries and five confirmed deaths.
The TDSHS website was updated with new information on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 24, but the data in the state’s website can lag at least a few days out of date, due to the high volume of cases TDSHS must process.
The county remains under Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order mandating the wearing of protective masks.
Elsewhere in the Panhandle, Armstrong County has had 13 total COVID-19 cases, two active cases, one death, and 10 recoveries. Carson County has had 21 total cases, four active cases, no deaths, and 17 recoveries. Collingsworth County has 18 total cases, one active case, no deaths, and 17 recoveries. Dallam County has 246 total cases, 35 active cases, nine deaths, and 202 recoveries.
In Deaf Smith County, there have been 867 total cases, 58 active cases, 21 deaths, and 788 recoveries. Donley County has 61 total cases, five active cases, one death, and 55 recoveries. Gray County has 295 total cases, 45 active cases, six deaths, and 244 recoveries. Hansford County has 112 total cases, eight active cases, four deaths, and 100 recoveries. Hartley County has 129 total cases, 25 active cases, no deaths, and 104 recoveries.
In Hemphill County, there have been 73 total cases, ten active cases, no deaths, and 63 recoveries. Hutchinson County has had 202 total cases, 50 active cases, four deaths, and 148 recoveries. Lipscomb County has 32 total cases, six active cases, no deaths, and 26 recoveries. Moore County has 1,159 total cases, 37 active cases, 20 deaths, and 1,102 recoveries.
Oldham County has 17 total cases, two active cases, one death, and 14 recoveries. Potter County has 4,707 total cases, 543 active cases, 55 deaths, and 4,109 recoveries. Randall County has 2,767 total cases, 485 active cases, 38 deaths, and 2,244 recoveries.
Roberts County has had nine total cases, two active cases, no deaths, and seven recoveries. Sherman County has 62 total cases, seven active cases, no deaths, and 55 recoveries. Wheeler County has 47 total cases, five active cases, no deaths, and 42 recoveries.
In the Oklahoma Panhandle, Beaver County has had 36 total cases, no deaths, and 34 recoveries. Cimarron County has had one case, one recovery, and no deaths. Texas County has had 1,034 total cases, seven deaths, and 1,004 recoveries.
In Kansas, Seward County has had 1,485 total cases, five deaths, and 1,335 recoveries.
In counties where the mask requirement is active, masks are required inside commercial entities, inside public buildings, at outdoor public spaces that don’t allow distancing, and at protests or demonstrations with more than 10 people from different households who can’t observe social distancing.
Though you can’t be detained, arrested, or jailed for not wearing a mask, you could face a fine of up to $250 if you don’t comply after being given a verbal warning.
Masks are not required for children 10 years or younger; for individuals with health conditions that prevent them from wearing a mask; while consuming food or drink; while exercising or engaging in physical activities outdoors, as long as they can social distance; while swimming; and while driving alone or with someone from one’s own household.
