Athletes honored Monday evening at All Sports Awards

Athletes in all sports were honored at the Perryton High School All Sports Awards on Monday evening. The event was hosted by the Perryton Lions Club in the PHS auditorium. The emcee for the evening was athletic director and head football coach Kurt Haberthur.

Rangerette softball closes out the season

The Rangerette softball team traveled to Hereford for their last action of the season on Friday. It was the second contest of the district season between the Rangerettes and the Lady Whitefaces. Hereford dominated the play in the first game winning easily by the final score of 27-4.

Speed abounds at the Regional Track Meet

Several Perryton High School track athletes competed at the Regional meet in Lubbock last weekend. Speed was present on both the straights and the curves at the Lowry Field track. Many fans admitted that they felt faster just being there. Alyssa Rutz was the top performer for Perryton at the meet.

4-H members qualify for state competition

Seven Ochiltree 4-H members recently competed and placed high at the Panhandle District 4-H Roundup Contests on April 23. The District 4-H Contests were held on the West Texas A&M University campus in Canyon. There were over 200 contestants from the top 22 counties in the Texas Panhandle.

Lady Harvesters sweep Rangerettes

It was a cold, blustery day for the last home softball game of the season on Tuesday for the Rangerettes. They hosted the Pampa Lady Harvesters, who defeated them by the score of 14-0 in Pampa earlier in the season.

Ranger golfers complete the season

The Ranger golf team returned to the Regional 4A golf tournament in Lubbock last week. Perryton golfers have held a constant presence at the event for years. This year’s team advanced despite being from one of the smallest schools in the 4A ranks.

Perez, Rutz are area track champions

The Area Track Meet was held on the campus of West Texas A&M University last Thursday. The top four finishers in each event advance to the Regional Track Meet in Lubbock. Ranger Pablo Perez continued his record-breaking season in the triple jump. He jumped to first place with a distance of 43-07.

Dumas sweeps Rettes

The Rangerette softball team travelled to Dumas on Friday in hopes of getting into the win column in district play. Dumas dominated the Rettes earlier in the season, 26-0, with a one-hit shutout, in Perryton.

Tennis closes out season

The Perryton High School tennis teams traveled to the Rebel Tennis Center in Amarillo for district play last Thursday. District 4-4A is loaded with talented players from schools with very solid tennis programs and outstanding tennis facilities.
