Francisco “Pancho” Tarango, 87, of Perryton died May 21, 2021.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 24, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Cesar Gomez officiating. Burial followed in Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
He was born Jan. 30, 1934 in Chihuahua, Mexico, and married Antonia Lovato in October 1973 in Perryton. She died in 2021. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He and his family were the first Hispanic family to settle in Perryton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gavino and Carmen (Garay) Tarango; his wife, Antonia; two sons, Phillip Mark Gonzales and Francisco Tarango, Jr; and one grandson, Little Monce.
He is survived by two sons, Monce Tarango and Servando Tarango, both of Perryton; two daughters, Oralia Tarango and Cipriano “Pana” Tarango, both of Perryton; four stepdaughters, Sadie Gallegos, Mary H. Gonzalez, Florentina Gonzalez and Cathy Gonzalez, all of Perryton; one stepson, Steve Gonzalez of Perryton; three brothers, Natividad Tarango of Mexico, Gavino Tarango of Perryton and Porfirio Tarango of Dumas; three sisters, Eufemia Tarango of Mexico, Jesus Tarango of Amarillo and Aucencia Tarango of Midland; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
