Sue Charmaine (Brown) Robertson was born to J. T. and Ruth Brown on May 9, 1937 in Dumas, Texas and passed peacefully from this life January 29, 2025.
She was raised on the family farm with her younger brother, Joe, and graduated from Dumas High School in 1955. The blue-eyed-beauty was a drum majorette, baton twirler and was named Miss Moore County.
Charmaine had a love for helping others and went on to attend West Texas State University and later graduated from Panhandle State University with her teaching degree.
On February 1, 1957 Charmaine married Jerry Robertson and their legendary love story began. They made their first home in Texhoma, Oklahoma and later settled in Darrouzett, Texas where they raised their two children, Wade and Krista.
Charmaine was fondly known as “Mrs. Robertson” and became every student’s favorite as she taught elementary school and coached P.E. in Darrouzett for more than 30 years.
She enjoyed fishing, playing bridge, gardening and helping Jerry care for their many hunting dogs. Charmaine and Jerry loved attending sporting events together and would travel far and wide to watch a ball game.
Charmaine was a great dancer and loved to do the “jitter bug”. She never stopped learning and even taught herself to swim and play the piano as an adult. Charmaine loved spending time outdoors with friends and family at their summer cabin in Red River, New Mexico.
Charmaine had a unique kindness and poured her spirt and energy into others by serving her local community in many ways. She was involved with the First Baptist Church, the Lipscomb County Museum, made and served bierox at Darrouzett’s German festival and was a member of the professional organization of female educators, Delta Kappa Gamma. She was very proud to also be a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a great cook and her kitchen door was always open for anyone who wanted to stop by to visit. Through her nurturing heart, she held the role of “mother” and “grandmother” to many that were not hers by blood.
She was selflessly devoted to her family and loved supporting her grandchildren, Josh, Jared and Halston, by cheering them on in any sport or activity they pursued. In her later years, playing with her seven great-grandchildren brought her great joy.
