Schoenhals rites set

Virginia Elizabeth Schoenhals, 81, of Perryton died Dec. 12, 2020.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Dec. 18, at St. John Congregational Church, 15909 County Road I in Follett, with Rev. Dwain Read officiating. The family requests face masks be worn due to COVID-19.

She was born March 10, 1939 in Vera, and graduated as salutatorian from Vera High School in 1957. After high school, she married Donald B. Hooten. She later married Elmer Schoenhals April 8, 1985 in Perryton. She was a seamstress, babysitter, a kindergarten teacher for First Baptist Church and a teacher for the Satellite School. She then worked as an accounting clerk for First National Bank, retiring in 1995 after 20 years. She attended First Baptist Church of Perryton for several years, and later St. John Congregational Church in Follett, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She also assisted with prison ministry for Gideons International at the Ochiltree County Jail.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Nina Bell Brown; and one brother, Don Brown.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer, of the home; two daughters, LaDonna Morgan of Panhandle and Becky Thomas of Stephenville; one brother, Floyd Brown of Seymour; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
