Sawatzky rites set

Jerry Sawatzky, 82, of Amarillo, formerly of Perryton, died Feb. 13, 2025.

Viewing will be Thursday, Feb. 20, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, with the family there from 4-6 p.m.

Services will be held Friday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at Crossroads Bible Fellowship in Balko, OK with Rev. James Epp officiating. Burial will follow in Balko Mennonite Cemetery in Beaver County, OK.

He was born Oct. 17, 1942 in Corn, OK. He attended Corn High School and Corn Bible Academy. He married Joyce Frantz on Oct. 20, 1962. They lived in Denver, CO, and Corn until moving to Perryton. In 2000, he moved to Creede, CO to operate a bed and breakfast, then returned to Perryton in 2007. He and his wife moved to Craig Senior Living Community in Amarillo in 2018.

He was a member of Crossroads Bible Fellowship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Lena Sawatzky; his stepmother, Goldie Hiebert; and one sister, Velma Heinrichs.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Amarillo; one son, Randy Sawatzky of Denver, CO; one daughter, Michelle Slaughter of Moore, OK; seven grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren.
