Robert Graves

Robert Graves, 98, of Perryton died Jan. 13, 2022.

A private family graveside service will be held in Ochiltree Cemetery with Rev. Steve Rogers officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

He was born Dec. 31, 1923 in Hardesty, OK. He was valedictorian of his high school class in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served oversees from 1943- 46 with the 175th Ordinance Depot Company during World War II.

He married Betty Jo Pipkin on June 26, 1947. She died in 2012. He later married Thelma Holdman on Dec. 3, 2016. He was a farmer and rancher in Ochiltree County, and was a past president of the Texas Wheat Producers and Ochiltree County Farm Bureau. He was a member of Community Worship Center.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Jim Graves; his parents, Ennis and Edna (Girourd) Graves; and two sisters, Imo Gene Giesler and Ruth Pruitt.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma, of the home; one son, John Graves, of Amarillo; one daughter, Joan Graves of Crosbyton; one brother, Kenneth Graves of Oklahoma City, OK; two sisters, Ester Rice of El Reno, OK and Mary Lou Johnson of Guymon, OK; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Community Worship Center of the Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Association Scholarship Fund.
