Rites set for Parker

 

Joan Conine Parker, 91, of Amarillo, formerly of Perryton, died Oct. 4, 2022.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. at Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

She was born Dec. 3, 1930 in Tulsa, OK, and grew up in Nowata, OK, graduating from Nowata High School in 1948. She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, MO in 1950 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1952. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She taught school in Midland, Amarillo and Perryton.

She married Richard “Dick” Parker on Aug. 14, 1954. She was an elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church, and helped organize Beehive Daycare Center in Perryton and the Camp Fire Girls in Amarillo.

She was also active in United Way, Ochiltree General Hospital Auxiliary, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Perry Memorial Library board, Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Association and Samaritan Counseling Center in Pampa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; one son, Hugh Parker; her parents, Hugh and Mary Louise Conine; and one brother, Tony Conine.

She is survived by two sons, Tim Parker of Denison and Rob Parker of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Ranger Academic Enrichment Foundation/ Pathways, P.O. Box 179, Perryton, or one’s favorite charity.
