Rites set for former resident

Jack Eugene Broughton, 93, of Fort Dodge, KS, formerly of Perryton, died Aug. 5, 2021.

Services will be held Friday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Chapel in Dodge City, KS with Rev. Shawn Fletcher officiating. Inurnment will follow in Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Fort Dodge with full military honors.

He was born Aug. 29, 1927 in Shawnee, OK, and graduated from Hoisington KS High School. He served in the United States Navy. He marries Doris “LaDene” Brewer on June 3, 1947 in Hoisington, KS. She died in 2007.

He worked in the oil and gas industry for over 60 years as a driller and later advanced management. He was later a bus driver for the Lamed school system. He was a member of the Fort Dodge American Legion Post 107 and the Hoisington Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters, Kerri Lange and Lisa Broughton; two sons, Everett Broughton and Kevin Broughton; one brother, Billy Broughton; and two sisters, Loretta French and Rosalie Renz.

He is survived by two sons, Ron Broughton of Owasso, OK and Jack “Jackie” Broughton of The Woodlands; one daughter, LeeAnn Castaneda of Springfield, MO; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Fort Dodge Museum, in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.

Changing seats
