Rites set for Buxton

Graveside services for Hobart Glenn Buxton, 80, of Booker will be held Friday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. at Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, social distancing will be practiced and occupancy numbers will be limited. Graveside services will be broadcast live on Boxwell Brothers Facebook page, which can be accessed at boxwell bros.com.

He went missing May 3, 2018, and was found June 13, 2019 around the Lake Vincent area in Oklahoma.

He was born Oct. 3, 1937 in Vici, OK and married Marilyn Rodgers Dec. 16, 2002 in Arnett, OK. He was an All State football player in 1957 for Perryton High School, and went on to play for TCU.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-62. He worked as a truck driver in the oilfield for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bertha (Derrick) Buxton; his first wife, Norma June Moad; one daughter, Connie Mattis; two brothers, Dale Buxton and Jack Buxton; and three sisters, Bernadine Barclay, Maxine Steven and Nadine Battin.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of the home; four daughters, Patricia Proffer and Lori Anderson, both of Lipscomb, Patricia Pitts of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Barbara Wilcox of Navarre, FL; three brothers, Lowell Buxton of Amarillo, Calvin Buxton of Hale Center and Jerry Buxton of Perryton; one sister, Shirley Ann Stone of Amarillo; and several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to one’s favorite charity.
