Kenneth Word
Kenneth Ray Word, 81, of Perryton, died Jan. 25, 2023.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 30, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Theodore Zachariades officiating. Burial followed in Bickford Cemetery in Catesby, OK. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
He was born March 22, 1941 in Dos Palos, CA, and married Verna Carnagey on Dec. 25, 1960 in Higgins.
He worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for 37 years. He also served on the Waka School Board and was past president of the Perryton Promenaders square dance club. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mamie (Brown) Word; one daughter, Joann word; one sister, Barbara Brown; one brother, Clinton Word; and half-sisters Faye Collins, Onie Gowens and Mae Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Verna, of the home; one son, Tommy Ray Word of Dumas; one daughter, Donna Barrow of Perryton; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
