Marilyn Buxton

Marilyn Alma (Rodgers) Buxton, 87, of Booker, passed away on March 18, 2021.

A virtual (Zoom) memorial service will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. to honor and celebrate Marilyn’s life. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.

Marilyn was born Nov. 30, 1933 in Liberal, KS to Joseph Aldeen and Thelma (Beck) Rodgers. She was raised on the family farm in Boyd, OK, five miles north of Bryan’s Corner in Beaver County, OK. She graduated from Turpin High School in 1951 and attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University (Panhandle A&M) in Goodwell, OK.

She lived in Natchez, MS from 1958 to 1965. In 1965, she moved to Texarkana, and lived there until 1971. In 1971, she moved to Shreveport, LA and lived there until 1994. In 1994, she moved back to the family farm in Beaver County, OK. She married Hobart Buxton on December 16, 2002 in Arnett, OK and they moved to Booker in 2005.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Hobart Buxton; her parents, Joseph Aldeen and Thelma A. Beck Rodgers; her brothers, James Rodgers, Royce Rodgers, and Louis Rodgers.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia A. Pitts and husband, Tom, of Gulf Breeze, FL, Barbara R. Wilcox and husband, Ken, of Navarre, FL and Lori J. Anderson of Booker; stepdaughter Patricia Proffer and husband, Larry of Lipscomb; nephew, Michael Rodgers and wife, Jessica, of Turpin, OK; five grandchildren, Shannon Moasco of Dierks, AR, Jennifer Holman of Bossier City, LA, Shane Middlebrooks of Little Rock, AR, Aaron Wilcox of Navarre, FL and Kaylin Cox of Alabama;four great-grandchildren, Kasey Pearson of Texarkana,Kenneth Mor - gan of Bossier City, LA, Blake Starks of Dierks, AR and Xander Davis of Bossier City, LA; and one great-great-grandson, Kaleb Johnson of Texarkana.
