Karen Wright

Karen Wright, 78, of Perryton, passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023 in Perryton, Texas.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Perryton, officiated by Rev. Richard Laverty, assisted by Rev. Gary Story. Burial followed in Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton.

Mrs. Wright was born on Jan. 6, 1945 in Shamrock, to Marvin Woodrow Montgomery and Vera Pauline Ford. She was a church pianist for many years. She was the director of the children’s choir, and was a Sunday School teacher for youth girls, and was very active in church.

She was an elementary teacher in Canyon for three years and in the Perryton Independent School District for five years. She worked in the County Treasurer’s office, First Baptist Church office, the Northeast Panhandle Teacher’s Federal Credit Union, and Animal Clinic in Perryton, doing clerical work. Her passion, though, was being a Mom and a Grammy.

Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband, Robert; one son, Monte Wright and wife, Donna, of Perryton; one daughter, Melanni Schollenbarger and husband, Jeff, of Perryton; two granddaughters, Kylie Wright Garr and husband, Ryan, of Lewisville and Lanie Schollenbarger of Arvada, CO; two grandsons, Andrew Wright of Stillwater, OK, and Jacob Schollenbarger of Perryton; one brother, Gary Montgomery of Perryton; and first cousins, Linda Montgomery of Amarillo, and Debra Dye of Perryton.

The family requests memorials to Ochiltree General Hospital Hospice, 3019 Main St., or to the Perryton Tornado Relief Fund at Perryton National Bank, P.O. 969, Perryton.
