John D. Seaman, 84, of Perryton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 10:30 a.m. at the Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, with Rev. Mark Metzger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
John Donald Seaman was born Janu. 4, 1938 in Sunray, to Marvin and Florence (Washburn) Seaman. John graduated from Stratford High School in 1957, attended West Texas A&M University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1962 and then went on to study at the University of Houston and graduated with a degree in pharmacy in 1969.
He married Frederica Ellis of Canadian, in 1964. He worked as a pharmacist in Houston and College Station from 1969-1990. He was a lifelong scholar and loved history. He also served as a battlefield medic in the US Army. John taught high school physics and chemistry for three years.
He enjoyed politics and even ran for State Representative in Brazos County, Texas in 1982. He and his wife moved to Perryton in the late 1990’s, where he farmed. He loved his family and liked to spend time reading and working in the garden and orchard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Florence Seaman; and brothers, Larry Seaman, Bobby Seaman and Tommy Seaman.
He is survived by his wife, Frederica, of the home; son, Dr. John Charles Seaman of Perryton; sisters, Rogene Garoutte of Austin, and Ruth Turner of The Woodlands; and brother, Edwin Seaman of Flower Mound.
