Joe Southerland

Foster “Joe” Southerland, 63, gained his golden hard hat on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.

He was born Feb.27, 1958, in Perryton,to Eldon and Vivian Southerland. Joe married Donna Harmon on Dec. 24, 1976. Joe grew up in the Texas Panhandle and lived in Perryton until 2008, when he moved to Bridge Creek, OK, to be around the grandsons and watch them grow up.

He attended school in Perryton. At the age of 16, Joe broke out in the oilfield and quickly became entrenched in oil patch work. The oil seeped into his blood and he was forever in love with his career. He started as a “worm” and retired as an Oilfield Consultant.

Any time that he wasn’t working in the oilfield he was doing various odd jobs, amazing woodwork, cooking on the grill and taking care of his cherished family.

Joe is survived by the love of his life, Donna; and baby girl, Stephanie Dodson and husband, Jeremiah, of Mustang, OK; his four grandsons, Ashton Lucas, Dalton Dodson, Lathan Dodson and Connor Lucas; one sister, Kathy McMillan; one brother, Paul Southerland; and many nieces and nephews. Joe considered his many friends his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sandi Southerland Lucas; his parents; brothers Jackie, Eldon Wayne, Adrian, and Richard; and a nephew, Chris.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept.15, 2021, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
