Jo Ann “Jody” Bechthold, 89, of Booker, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 in Perryton.
Viewing will be Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. in Booker. A family visitation will be held Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Booker.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Methodist Church in Booker, at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Lewis Holland and Gene McPeak. The service will be livestreamed on the Boxwell Brothers Facebook page at the time of the service. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Booker.
Mrs. Bechthold was born on November 8, 1934 on the family farm north of Booker, to Dan Sell and Alnora Getz Sell. She married her husband, Clyde, on December 21, 1952 at the Methodist Church in Booker. She was also a member of the Methodist Church in Booker and had been all her life.
She was a great cook, decorating cakes for years. She loved going on road trips and traveling, and she had visited all 50 states. Her favorite trip was going to see the polar bears in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada.
She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club for 69 years, and she and her husband, Clyde, loved square dancing.
Mrs. Bechthold is survived by her husband, Clyde; one son, Doak Bechthold of Booker; two daughters, Clydeene Harper and husband Gilbert of Booker, and Charmaine Powell and her husband, Dr. James Powell of Amarillo; one grandson, Dr. Brent Harper and wife Crystal of Booker; one granddaughter, Vanessa Stewart and husband Stephen of Lubbock; one chosen granddaughter, Jessica Skipper and husband Andrew of Booker; four great-granddaughters, Anastasia Harper, Alexis Tradwell, Kaylee Skipper, and Kirsten Stewart; and two great-grandsons, Joseph Skipper and Tobin Stewart.
Mrs. Bechthold was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Richard Sell and sister, Edna Mae Norton.
