Harold Lynn Cochran

Harold Lynn Cochran, passed away peacefully at his beautiful cabin in South Fork, CO, on August 25, 2023, with his beloved wife, Janelle, by his side.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 8, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Perryton, officiated by Rev. Richard Laverty. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Perryton.

Harold was born June 23, 1937, in Shawnee OK, and was the middle of three sons, born to Thomas Howard and Edna Opal (Surginier) Cochran. Harold graduated from Velma Alma High School, Velma Alma, OK, in 1955. Harold was drafted into the United States Army, in 1957, where he honorably served his country, until 1959, After serving two years in the Army, Harold began his work career at CW Cotton Supply, in Oklahoma, and later transferred to Perryton, where he met his lifelong companion, and best friend, Janelle. Harold and Janelle were married on July 18, 1964, and shared 59 wonderful years together, raising their two wonderful sons, Mark, and Greg, while creating magnificent and adventurous memories, throughout the years.

In 1965, Harold went to work for Amoco Productions, as a foreman, where he had a long and successful career, that took the family to Pampa, and Ulysses, Kansas, before returning to Perryton, where he later retired.

Harold was a people person, who never met a stranger. He loved socializing and being with people, so his retirement didn’t last long, leading to a job in sales with Jet Well Service, where he worked for another 11 years; finally retiring for good in 2006.

Harold and Janelle loved being in the mountains, frequently visiting the South Fork, CO area since the 1980s, then building their second home, between South Fork and Creede, CO, in 1995, overlooking the Rio Grande River. Harold and Janelle, split their time between Perryton and Creede, developing and cherishing forever friendships.

Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church in Perryton, where he served as a door greeter since 1995. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church, in Creede. Harold enjoyed many rounds of golf for much of his life until he later gave it up stating… “I am just not that good anymore”.

He filled his time by having breakfast, coffee, and playing cards, with all his life-long buddies in Perryton, and his pals at Blue Creek Lodge, CO. He also enjoyed four wheeling, fishing, and visiting with any, and everyone, whether he knew them…or not. Boy, he sure loved to visit.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Edna Cochran of Ada OK, his son and friend Mark Lynn Cochran of Amarillo, his brother Bob Cochran of Oklahoma City, and brother John Cochran of Ada OK.

He is survived by his beloved and faithful wife, Janelle; son, Greg Cochran of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Payton Grace Cochran of Canyon; daughter-inlaw, Meredith Cochran of Amarillo; grandsons, Logan Lamberson and wife Rachel of Midland, Layton Lamberson and wife Molly, of Panhandle; sister in-law, Carla Tankersley, of Round Rock, brother in-laws, Rob Blackmore, Richmond, VA, and Bill Blackmore, of Goodwell, OK; and, a host of nieces and nephews, who Harold loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the Cochran family requests memorials be made, to the First Baptist Church, 415 South Baylor, Perryton, TX 79070.
