Gilbertine (Gil) Carroll died peacefully in Houston, Texas on July 5, 2021.
Gil was born March 22, 1947 in Perryton, Texas to Gilbert and Dannie Mize. She was a twirler at Perryton High School and graduated in 1965. She attended the University of Texas at Austin where as a freshman she auditioned and was selected as a member of the UT choir.
In 1980 Gil and husband John founded Carroll Insurance Agency which they owned and operated until their retirement in 2001.
Gil volunteered her time to several ministries at Bear Creek United Methodist Church and recently was appointed to the board of the children’s preschool program. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed her weekly bridge games with her neighborhood friends.
The love of Gil’s life was her husband John with whom she shared a passion for traveling the world; something they did until his death in 2019. Their love and devotion to one another over their 42-year long marriage set a shining example for everyone.
Preceding her in death were her parents, sister Dannie Jean Schnell and husband Sonny and brother-in-law Charles Lovett.
Gil is survived by her son Gary (Nathalie) Carroll, sister Sara Lovett, nieces Judy (Rob) Schurrer, Tess Strickland and Holly (Chris) Thurman.
A celebration of Gil’s life will be held Saturday August 7th 2021 at 2 p.m. at Bear Creek United Methodist Church, 16000 Rippling Water Drive, Houston, TX 77084.
