Gene Devers, 88, of Booker, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Graveside services were scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Heart Cemetery in Booker with Aric Ruiz officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Eugene Lee Devers was born on Oct. 16, 1934 in Ochiltree County, to Clyde and Eldred Doerrie Devers. He married Betty Cawyer in 1986 in Perryton.
When he was younger, he rode bareback horses, was a world champion powerlifter, and raised and trained cattle dogs. As he got older, he loved playing washers at Booker Equity. He was a member of the Booker Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Eldred Devers; wife, Betty Devers; daughter, Jamie Reiswig; brother, Roy Devers; and nephew, Mark Devers.
He is survived by his daughter, Amber and Jerry Hargues of Booker; four grandchildren, Tandra Hargues of Booker, Samantha Hargues of Perryton, Trent and Cassie Hargues of Guymon, OK, andAndy and Hailey Hargues of Booker; four great-grandchildren, Aric Ruiz, Lanee Waechter, Libby Waechter, Presley Bauer; sister-inlaw, Vernona Devers of Booker; brothers-in-law Fred Cawyer and Tommy Moses both of Orange Grove; and nephew, Marty Devers of Perryton.
