Eloisa Rodriguez

Eloisa Rodriguez, our sweet mom, was called home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022. Eloisa was 83 years young, living in Lubbock, but formerly of Perryton.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Guillermo Estrada officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 7-9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.

Eloisa Silva Lovato was born on Feb. 26, 1939, in Hot Springs, New Mexico to Marcelino Lovato and Gregorita Salas.

On Feb. 19, 1962 Elsie married Raul Rodriguez. They were the first Hispanic couple to be married in Ochiltree County. Back in the early years, Raul and Elsie were the center of the party, hosting numerous Mexican dances and keeping the local taverns in business. They enjoyed life and spending time with friends and family.

Elsie was not only a great mother to her own children, but she was also considered “mom” to a lot of their friends throughout the years. She was a great cook and always had a house full, especially when she decided to make Mexican food.

Eloisa was known by many names, Elsie, Mom, Tia, but her favorite was Nana. Her greatest treasure in life was her family. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; she loved them all unconditionally. She cherished family gatherings and creating family memories.

Nana loved the simple things in life, she didn’t need or want much. In her later years, she liked to stay home. She always had a puzzle book and pen in hand. Elsie had a special talent of circling words while listening to every conversation in the room.

If you wanted to know something, just ask Nana, because she loved to share all her info. She had a sweet tooth and would rather eat sweets than supper and she loved to drink her cerveza. Cheers Nana!

Oh, sweet sassy Nana, you will be missed in so many ways, your smiles, your laugh and your hugs. Rest easy and give Papa a big hug!

Elsie is survived by her three children; son, Marvin Rodriguez and wife Debbie, of Lubbock; daughter, Frances Scott and husband Steve, of Mustang, OK; son, RJ Rodriguez and wife Becky, of Weatherford; six grandchildren; Jon Scott and wife Rebekah; Brittani Pricer and husband Aaron; Brandi Keeter & husband Case; Blake Scott; Ethan Irsik; and Jackson Rodriguez; 10 great-grandchildren, Talon, Kapri & Khloee Scott; Piper, Palmer & Parker Burrow; Benson & Bryson Scott; Channing and soon to be Callaway Keeter.

Eloisa was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Raul Rodriguez, her parents, five brothers and three sisters (she was the youngest of nine siblings).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Raul & Elsie Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Perryton National Bank, 825 S. MainSt.,Perryton,TX79070.
