Marian Elaine Poarch Dickerson, 88, of Pampa, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023 in Pampa.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron William-son, pastor, officiating. A private family burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael- Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Elaine was born Dec. 26, 1934 in Carter, OK to Frank and Maybian Henson Poarch. Her family moved to Pampa in 1943 and she attended school at Woodrow Wilson, Grandview Hopkins, and Lefors, where she graduated in 1952.
On Oct.18, 1952, she married Ray Dickerson; they recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Elaine worked as a secretary during her husband’s Air Force tour of duty in Everett, Washington and Fairbanks, Alaska. She was a legal secretary for Smith, Teed, Wade & Waters in Pampa from 1958-1964 and for Otis C. Shearer in Booker from 1968-1988.
Elaine loved the Lord, her family and friends. The legacy of her unwavering faith and powerful prayer life has been the solid rock of her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pampa, participating in Sunday School, Sonshiner’s Club, Ladies Bible study and Prayer Room Ministry.
Before moving to Pampa in 2000, she served as the church clerk, taught Sunday School and worked in the nursery department at First Baptist Church of Booker. She also volunteered at TwinOaksManorinBooker.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Ray of the home; two daughters, Terri Pennington and husband Steve of Atascocita and Lori Godino and husband Rudy of Canadian; grandchildren, Sarah Witten and husband Aaron, Alison Sinitiere and husband Paul, Kyle Pennington and wifeLesa,DavidGodinoand wife Brooke, and Hayley Forys and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Lanie, Sophie and Jolie Witten, Jenna, Halle and Annie Sinitiere, Cruise, Case and Cooper Godino, Isla and Evynn Forys; sister, Linda Poormon and husband Jim of Lubbock; nephew, Jim Poormon and wife Mary Jane; and a niece, Jennifer Poormon.
