First rabies case of the season found near Balko

The first case of rabies for this spring has arrived, near Balko. A skunk tested positive for rabies which was killed by an unvaccinated dog. Since the pet was not vaccinated, the pet owner must make the painful choice to have the animal be euthanized or placed in a quarantine facility for up to four months.
