Until 1967, there were only six teams – referred to by fans as “The Original Six” – in the National Hockey League. They were the Boston Bruins, the Chicago Black Hawks, the Detroit Red Wings, the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Rangers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Friendship Quilt Guild meets Dec. 10

The Friendship Quilt Guild met Dec. 10.Marianne Pipkin, guild president, demonstrated and passed out directions for a miniature Texas Flag Quilt Strip. The pieces will make a quilt when sewn together. Members were encouraged to make them and bring them for the January meeting and exchange.

City’s sales tax payments end the year up 2%

Although the December sales tax payment was down, the City of Perryton still ended 2025 on a positive note.The city’s December payment was $245,342, down close to 8% from last December.But for the year, its total payments of $3.08 million were up were up almost 2% from 2024.

The Herald will have early deadlines the next two weeks due to moved up printing schedules. The Thursday, Dec. 25 paper will be printed on Tuesday, Dec. 23, and delivered later that day. The Thursday, Jan. 1, paper will be printed on Tuesday, Dec. 30, and delivered on Wednesday, Dec. 31.
