Samuel De Santiago, an incoming senior at Perryton High School, was named as an Outstanding Performer at the 2025 Texas State UIL Solo-Ensemble Contest. De Santiago, a baritone, performed Franz Schubert’s “Der Lindenbaum” at the contest.

Commissioners okay donations, discuss proposed budget

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved accepting donations for two different offices.The first donations included money and labor to paint the County Constable’s office.

Museum sets chicken painting workshop The Museum of the Plains at 1200 N. Main in Perryton will host an acrylic painting workshop on Saturday, July 26, from 1-4 p.m. Participants will create a painting of a chicken with any wild colors you want. Cost is $15.

Perry wants to build nuclear complex in West Texas

Former Gov. Rick Perry has co-founded a company he says plans to build the country’s largest nuclear complex on nearly 6,000 acres owned by Texas Tech University, according tothe Houston Chronicle. Perry is promoting the Advanced Energy and Artificial Intelligence Center.
