Commissioners approve SB8 funds and grant Monday

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved the certification of funds and adopted a special budget for Texas Senate Bill 8.

Gustavo Hernandez, a recent graduate of Perryton High School, was selected as an Outstanding Performer at the 2026 UIL Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest. Of the approximately 100,000 students participating in regional UIL music contests, only 2-3% earned the honor.
Frank Phillips College, Allen Campus hosted a pulled pork dinner fundraiser Tuesday evening for the Perryton Pathways scholarship program. Hungry diners had dine in, take out, and delivery options available, as well as a silent auction. Pictured are Phil and Lori Dollar picking up their meal from volunteer Misty Stockton. Pathways is open to PHS freshmen and eligible sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

DAR sets events for July 4The Wolf Creek Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution have scheduled events at Leatherman Park for July 4. The organization is inviting food trucks, vendors, and nonprofits to participate in the celebration. There is no charge to participate.
SENIOR CENTER SPOTLIGHTS VINTAGE CARS— The Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Association held their annual car show fundraiser on June 16 at the Senior Citizens Center. Attendees got a meal of homemade hamburgers, as well as the chance to check out a bunch of classic, vintage, and muscle cars.

Coffee Memorial desperately needs blood donors due to blood shortage

Our Blood Institute Coffee Memorial Blood Center is declaring an emergency blood shortage and asking donors of all blood types, especially O-negative and B-negative, to give immediately as blood inventory levels continue to decline and hospitals rely on a shrinking supply to support patient care.
