Light rain showers and raging thunderstorms meant Perryton and Ochiltree County got treated to plenty of rain last week and throughout the weekend.KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total was 1.43 inches. Elsewhere around the county, Ron Stinson in Waka reported 5.70 inches of rain.

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning .The commissioners held a short budget workshop to discuss expectations for how next year’s budget may differ from the current fiscal year.The commissioners discussed the county’s ambulance budget.

School may be out for the summer, but Snack Pak 4 Kids is still working hard to make sure kids get delicious and nutritious snacks. The organization is distributing snack bags every Thursday through the end of July from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Stark Park, Leatherman Park, and Murphy Park.

Local mural painter Mario Enriquez is hard at work creating a new painting at the corner of Main Street and 9th Avenue. The mural depicts a scene from the cover of “Popular Mechanics” magazine in 1920, as buildings and homes from old Ochiltree were moved by tractor to the current site of Perryton.
