City’s sales tax payment stays steady in July

The City of Perryton’s sales tax payment in July stayed basically the same for the month, but its payments to date are still ahead of 2024.The city received $247,327 in July, down just .22% from last July. Its payments for the year so far of $1.79 million are a little over 2% more than in 2024.
The Museum of the Plains’ annual smoked pork tenderloin fundraiser was held last Thursday at the museum. Chefs from all over the area got together Friday morning to season and grill hundreds of pork tenderloins in preparation for the hungry diners who showed up in the afternoon to pick up their meals. Frank Phillips College, Allen Campus, hosted the first session of their annual Kids College last week, with fun classes for kids 5-12 focusing on Hawaii. Kids enjoyed classes about arts and crafts, ocean life, science, music, painting, and more. Pictured are the kids in the 9-12 age group’s arts and crafts class decorating ukuleles.

Oil Patch Golf Tournament gets underway July 11-13

Area golfers are looking forward to this weekend’s annual Oil Patch Golf Tournament.The tournament, hosted by the Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Friday, July 11 through Sunday, July 13, at the Perryton Golf Course to honor the oil and gas industry in the Perryton area.
